“THE WAY I DRESS DOES NOT MATTER; WHAT MATTERS IS WHAT I HAVE TO OFFER”: TRUTH OR FALLACY
It has long been a thing for some set of people have been dwelling in the belief that it does not matter what they wear, or how good or bad their fashion sense is; all that matters are the value they have to add. Is that belief, right? Join me on this ride.
In truth, in the world today, particularly in the corporate world, employers of labor are really concerned about the value one has to offer and how one can impact positively on their organization. Without denying that fact, take a sample of this situation.
You are an employer of labor and you have called for an interview. On the day of the interview, you see a prospective employee who has dressed shabbily for the interview. Although, the resume which he or she has is a competitive resume, would you not be skeptical about employing such a person? In my opinion, I would be because I would be of the opinion that such an unkempt person cannot project the image of my organization.
In case you’re still in doubt, try going for an outing with a friend that is looking dapper and you in turn look ragged, forlorn and unkempt. Although you might have a lot to offer; you might be more handsome or beautiful, in fact, you could be the one who is more intelligent. However, it is that you friend who has dressed well who will be accorded more importance and respect.
At this point, we can say categorically that the belief that the way you dress does not matter and what matters is what you have to offer is a total lie. Dear Reader, I plead with you that no matter how cash-strapped, discouraged and frustrated you are, try to dress well. Nowadays, dressing well does not have to involve wearing expensive designer dresses; it starts from how you combine the colors which you wear; obviously, you can’t expect to mix a deep orange shirt with bright blue trousers, you’d be looking like you just stepped out of a reform center; that’s on a lighter note anyway. Take your time, to select matching pieces; note, they don’t have to be expensive, they just have to bring out the beauty and handsomeness in you.
Lastly, your carriage and charisma in whatever you wear is very important. I leave you with this saying;
