OLAYINKA JOEL

“Extreme poverty anywhere is a threat to human security everywhere.” Kofi Annan,Seventh Secretary- General of the United Nations. You would agree with me that, the most dangerous place anywhere in the world certainly is the ghetto. “Poverty is the parent of revolution and crime”, Aristotle. Poverty has forced people to do things that are unlawful, things that are against humanity. The situation of the poor should determine the development of our society. When you’re homeless and jobless, you are treated like a nobody! Poverty is not a good condition, it is a social condition. You can get out of it or overcome it with adequate support.

Waiting for the government to eradicate poverty is like waiting for rapture. Truly, you might be poor outside but you have a palace inside you. All you need to do is believe in your dreams, You came alone into this world, stop relying on others to make your decision. Focusing solely on your dreams, values and God affords you more value than anyone else. It is because only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential. Many people have raised their standards out of the ghetto, they didn’t just dream of success, they also woke up to achieve it.

Poverty motivated many great people today, True success is the person who invented himself.

Shallow men believe in luck, Strong men believe in cause and effect.
