Langham Hotels and Resorts has a long history operating as a luxury hotel brand, originating in 1865 with The Langham, London. Global travelers visiting Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Jakarta, or a number of other cities, will find well-appointed accommodations, all with signature pops of pink accents for a touch of panache. Plus, who wouldn’t love snapping a photo with one of The Langham’s vintage London cabs, painted pink? Each location has its own distinct stylish design to fit the location and architecture, yet the level of service as well as the quality of the food and beverage programs are unswerving throughout.
Another facet that sets the Langham hotels apart can be chipped down to their thoughtful philanthropic efforts. For the month of October, the international health campaign, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, works toward raising awareness of the disease as well as knowledge around the importance of early screening and testing. Garnering research funds for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and hopefully, a cure is also a major focus of the non-profit, in October and throughout the year.
The Langham, Chicago supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives throughout the month by not only raising awareness and hope, but also by donating funds directly to Bright Pink, a national non-profit headquartered in Chicago.
Stay in the Pink Suite
When you walk into the one-bedroom Pink Suite, the first charity suite of its kind in Chicago, you’ll notice the sophisticated décor right away. HMR Designs has created a pretty-in-pink atmosphere, with special accents, soft furnishings, lighting, and even a floral veil hanging from the ceiling, idyllic for overnight stays the entire month of October.
Notably, 30 percent of proceeds from the suite are donated directly to Bright Pink, raising much-needed funds for preventative health care. The package, which includes Langham Club access, Bright Pink Afternoon Tea, a Knesko Spa amenity, and valet parking is offered at a discounted rate.
Drink Bright Pink Afternoon Tea
Served in the Pavilion Lounge, a colorful textured space full of multi-hued art (more than 150 fine art pieces are featured throughout the hotel), a fire place, round marble tables and cream colored furniture, the Bright Pink Tea Afternoon Tea is as lovely as it is tasty.
Sandwich selections include delights such as the English cucumber, watermelon radish, chervil cream cheese, and freeze-dried tomatoes and the beet root cured salmon, kumquats, zucchini, and fresh onions finger sandwiches. Chai tea scones and pink desserts, masterfully created by pastry chef Danielle Marelli, top off the experience.
Of course, the tea itself is quite delicious as well. The Langham Blend, from Sri Lanka, complements the tiered noshes. 10 percent of afternoon tea proceeds will be donated to Bright Pink for the month of October.
