Clueless is getting a TV remake.
The show is rumoured to be centred around the character Dionne, who was played by actress Stacey Dash in the 1995 movie, according to Deadline.
The magazine described the project as “baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fuelled”.
The high-school comedy will be penned by Will and Grace writers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey.
The original film starred Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz, a fashion-conscious Californian teen navigating high school.
The cast also included Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy.
A re-imagining of Jane Austen’s Emma, the film updated the setting to Beverly Hills, and added a computerised walk-in wardrobe, big mobile phones and an impressive soundtrack.
In the new series, it seems cool girl Cher will go missing, leaving her number two, Dionne, to fill her shoes.
A previous TV series which followed the original film starred Rachel Blanchard as Cher (as Silverstone was not available) with Dash reprising her role as Dionne.
Last year, Paramount Studios hired GLOW writer Marquita Robinson and Girls Trip writer and producer Tracy Oliver to make a new version of the movie.
However, there has been no news on the project since.
It’s not known when the CBS series will air.
